Essington carjacker sought

A carjacker who struck on Burnsnips Road, Essington, is being sought by Police.

The hooded man tried to haul open a woman driver’s car door as she slowed at traffic lights, at around 5.45pm, on Wednesday, January 25.

Her slimly-built attacker had been waiting for a victim on the A462 at the junction of Warstone Road and Broad Lane.

Other motorists will have seen the man in his early 20s as he stood on the roadside grass verge.

The woman he targeted was driving home in her white Kia Sportage.

She fought back after he ran at her vehicle and tried to reach through her half-open window to the door handle.

But it was only when another motorist arrived and shouted a challenge at the carjacker that he ran off in the direction of Willenhall.

He left his victim in a state of shock and distress.

The man is said to be 5ft 8ins tall, slim and in his early 20s.

He was wearing a navy, or black, hooded top and blue denim jeans and carrying a dark backpack.

He had a tattoo on his left hand, shaven dark hair and stubble on his face.
