Two arrested following Rugeley Amazon blaze


Amazon’s Rugeley warehouse: fire spotted in the early hours.

Two men have been arrested following a fire at Rugeley’s Amazon distribution centre in the early hours of Sunday morning (November 13).

A 19-year-old Birimgham man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

He was bailed pending further inquiries to a date in February 2017.


A 21-year-old man from Wednesbury was arrested this morning on the same charges. He remains in custody.

Staff at the Amazon site, on Power Station Road, were evacuated when the blaze took hold in the ‘picking area’.

The Police and six fire appliances were called to the site just after 2.10am.

Detectives and forensics officers from Staffordshire Police spent Sunday at the scene establishing what caused the fire.


Staffordshire police are asking anyone with information that could help them with their enquires to call them on ‘101’, quoting incident 77, of November 13.
